How Quickly Can You See Long Lasting Results

Sometimes people want to get results now, now, now. And that’s because it’s exciting to make life changes and you want to see the payoff of all of your hard work. And so I get asked, “how quick can I see changes if I do what you did.” Well let me tell you, while the biggest change came in just three months, there were other quicker and just as rewarding changes I saw right away.

When I first began my journey to lose weight, I cleaned out everything in my cupboard and began walking back and forth to Walmart to get each of my meals. I didn’t know how quickly I would see changes; I just knew I had to start.

The First 3 Months of My Weight Loss Journey

This extra activity and the clean way of eating that I adapted allowed me to drop my first 100 lbs in only three months.

For many, that sounds like a lot, and it is.

But when I went from 605 lbs to 500 lbs I didn’t feel like it was a lot and it didn’t make me look a lot different. Yes, I went down a few pant sizes, but I still looked big and I still felt big.

I did feel better overall and my walks had become a lot easier.

Even though I didn’t feel like I looked much different, I knew I needed to stick to it and that I still had a lot to do. And so began going to the gym, a place I had never been confident enough to go to before.

Because at this point, walking wasn’t having the same effect on me because it was becoming too easy. I knew that I needed to step up my game if I wanted to keep losing the weight and there was no way I was giving up just yet.

Even though I felt like I didn’t look as different as I had wanted to, and part of me questioned whether or not I should even continue, another part of me was motivated by it. When I looked back at it, I couldn’t believe how much I had lost in only 90 days. 90 days!! I became excited to see what else I could do in the next 90 days.

After coming to this realization, I wanted to challenge myself, and so I began to set goals new goals. One week I would lose 5 pounds, the next I would lose 10 pounds.

The one first things I did after deciding to challenge myself was to order a special scale that could handle 500 lbs. Once I had it, I weighed myself every day and kept track. The goal was for that number to change every day.

Some people encourage those trying to lose weight to stay off the scale, but when you are that big, the rules are a little bit different because the weight and the results aren’t the same as someone who only needs to lose 30 lbs.

When I was trying to lose all that weight, stepping on the scale every day helped to keep me accountable because I could see the changes easier than I could than just by looking in the mirror. I knew when I was doing something that was working and when I was doing something that wasn’t.

And even though all of this happened in just 3 months, I actually saw other (very important) changes in a just matter of days!

Changes I Saw in the First Few Days

When I first began losing weight and eating clean, the first thing I noticed was that I felt more energized. For me, this change was noticeable right away. I went from eating an entirely processed diet to eating clean, whole foods. I was eating lean meat and vegetables… Before this, I never ate vegetables! If it wasn’t for my burger, it wasn’t part of my diet.

When I was eating processed fast food for every meal, I would get so tired and normally go to sleep right after my meal. Once I began to eat healthily, the sluggishness went away. I even felt lighter. When I ate, I would be full, but it wasn’t an uncomfortable full that would come along with the junk I was eating, but a good full. I would eat and feel good afterward, rather than wanting to sleep it off.

Some of the biggest changes happen to you on the inside and how you feel. You will feel better almost right away. You will feel more energized and lighter, even if you haven’t lost a bunch of weight yet. What happens on the outside will follow what is going on in the inside.

Changes I Saw in the First 30 Days

The next thing I noticed was that my taste buds changed. It took about 30 days for me to taste food again, as my taste buds adjusted to the new diet.

I’ve even gotten to the point where when I have a cheat meal, I don’t like to cheat on the things that I used to. I don’t even want pizza anymore.

When you first begin to lose weight, you go through so many different changes and they aren’t all on the outside. This taste bud change was a huge step for me. It helped quiet all the cravings that I used to cave into. Just that fact alone was a big help on my journey because, like most people, cravings could take over and push me off track.

Before I knew it, I was 90 days in and already 100 lbs down and starting to notice all of the changes that were happening on the outside as my clothes were no longer fitting the same way.

Speeding My Weight Loss Up

Even though the first 3 months brought on so many massive changes, it wasn’t my first go at it, and I also found myself hitting plateaus after. One reason I think it took me so long is that I was doing it all on my own. I had to figure out how to cut out sodas, which took me over a year and a half. I had to learn on my own how bad dairy was for you and once I cut that out, I dropped 50 lbs in a month.

If I had someone to help me or someone telling me what to eat while I was trying to lose weight, I imagine that I would have saved myself six months. I would have been able to drop more of the weight that I needed to lose in less time and feel the effects even faster. That’s the very reason I made the Approved Foods List.

Having a set of foods that worked for me, all in one place, made it easier for me to pick things that would push my weight loss forward. It’s also the reason I stay on my meal plan now. There’s no guesswork. I know the results I can expect and how fast I’ll get them. No guess work means no mistakes that throw me so far off track that I get discouraged, and I keep seeing the changes I want as fast as possible.
