How to Make Spaghetti Squash

Spaghetti squash is a very useful vegetable that I often use to replace pasta. The insides of the spaghetti squash closely resemble the long strands of cooked spaghetti, hence where the name comes from, and even better, the taste is very similar to pasta as well.

I understand that when we replace some of our favorite foods with healthier alternatives, we don’t just want it to look the same, but we want it to taste like it as well. The real difference between traditional spaghetti and spaghetti squash is when you break down the macros. While spaghetti typically has about 31 grams of carbs in every serving, spaghetti squash only has about 7. It is also a lot lighter on calories, with only 27 per serving while pasta adds 158 calories to your meal.

Next time you make pasta, switch our your noodles for spaghetti squash and start losing more weight.

If’ you’ve never made spaghetti squash before, I understand that it can be a little intimidating. Before I became used to cooking all my food, I wouldn’t have known what to even do with one of these things, let alone what to do if I was told to make a pasta from it!

That is why I am sharing how I cook spaghetti squash when I want to eat my favorite pasta!

How to Make Pasta with Spaghetti Squash

  1. Slice your spaghetti squash into 1-inch slices
  2. Take out the inner ring – you can save this for pasta!!
  3. Spray a baking sheet with coconut oil
  4. Place your spaghetti squash rings on the pan and spray with oil
  5. Season with your favorite seasonings… I love garlic powder
  6. Bake for 45 minutes at 375º
  7. Remove from oven and use a fork to pull apart the squash so that it resembles spaghetti.
  8. Use with your favorite pasta recipe!
